One Week Intensive Adult Programs in English as a 2nd Language combined with
Celtic Culture & Traditions – July/August 2009

IIC & CC’s Summer Adult ESL Programs are comprised of intensive one week courses in ESL combined with
an introduction to Celtic Studies & Traditions. A fine balance is achieved between enhancing proficiency in
English as a 2nd language and immersion in Irish history, literature, archaeology, folklore, customs and
traditions.

Cambridge ESOL – the world-famous Cambridge University

Teacher Knowledge Test (TKT)

- gives teachers a strong foundation in the core areas of teaching knowledge needed in the English language teaching classroom. TKT is only available in the United Kingdom and Ireland in 2009.

First Certificate in English (FCE)

- for people who need to use everyday written and spoken English at an upper intermediate level. It is ideal for people who want to use English for work or study purposes.

Business English Certificate (BEC)

- More than ever, a good knowledge of English is needed to succeed in international business and commerce. If you can show you have relevant language skills, you'll have a great advantage in the jobs market and much greater flexibility if you
want to work abroad. BEC can help you show that you have learned English to an appropriate standard and can use it in a business context.

Business Language Testing Service (BULATS)

- tests cover listening, speaking, reading and writing using a combination of computer-based tests, written papers and face-to-face speaking tests. Assessment is carried out very quickly - instantly in the case of computer-based tests and all test takers receive an informative report on their performance. BULATS tests language skills in a business context.

TOEFL/IELTS/TOEIC/TIE courses also available.

Celtic Studies.

Participants are introduced to Celtic Culture & Traditions. Classroom activities focusing on Irish history, literature, mythology, sports, music and politics are supplements by visits to nearby literary, historical and archaeological sites led by instructors.

Pricing Structure
Net price per participant is €1,075.00. (private room)
Net price per participant is €850.00 (room sharing)

This price includes the following:

Accommodation, meals, tuition and in-country program related transportation.
• 30 hours of 60-minute classes per week delivered by fully qualified and experienced ESL teachers
using the most up-to-date and approved teaching methods.
• Monitoring by the Director of Studies on a daily basis.
• Textbooks and teaching aids which can be kept by participants.
• “Welcome kit" with guides, maps, brochures, tourist information etc.
• Cambridge ESOL Certificate at successful completion of the program.
• Lectures on Celtic Studies plus visits to local sites of interest.
• Use of Multi Media Facilities including free access to e-mail and Internet Video and self-access library.
• Use of College facilities e.g. recreation room, gymnasium, sports facilities, auditorium, communications
centre and library.
• On campus evening activities as available.
• Other support services provided as required.

Textbooks at €30 (approximately).

N.B. Flights and transportation costs to/from Ireland, medical insurance and
VISA application costs are not included in the above prices.
