Summer 2009: Sligo, Dublin, Belfast (and Galway)
Dates:
- 2-week program Sunday July 5-Saturday July 18 (14 days)
- 4-week program Sunday July 5-Friday July 31 (27 days)
(Note: The 4-week program overlaps the 2-week program with the exception of the provided July 17 departure dinner)
- These concurrent programs overlap during the first two weeks.
- INTERNSHIPS: The first, part of the third, and all of the fourth weeks consist of internships with local Sligo media (including but not limited to the Sligo Champion), the International Yeats Society, the Sligo Art Gallery, the Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery, local public relations offices, and other hosts to be arranged with the Innisfree International College and Convention Centre.
- INTERNSHIP DAYS (10 full day, 2 half day): July 7, 8, 9, 10/HD, 17/HD, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29, 30
- MEALS: Except for travel days to Dublin, Belfast and Galway (or another location TBD), a choice of lunch or dinner is on campus at the IIC&CC (provided). Breakfast is in suite (provided). Arrival and departure dinners provided for each program as part of the program cost.
- TRANSPORTATION: Provided from and to Shannon International Airport; provided to and from internship locations; provided at regular intervals to and from campus daily.
- IRELAND TRAVEL: The second, and the end of the third weeks involve travel to Dublin, Belfast and Galway (or another location TBD).

Week 1
Saturday July 4
- Early arrival day at Shannon International Airport (transportation provided)
Sunday July 5
- Scheduled arrival day at Shannon International Airport (transportation provided)
- Lunch on campus on arrival (provided)
- Welcome dinner in Sligo (provided)
Monday July 6
- Morning: Orientation session with IIC&CC
- Lunch on campus (provided)
- Bus tour of Sligo and environs (provided)
- Dinner in Sligo (on own)
Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday July 7-8-9
- Full-day internship programs (lunch on own; dinner on campus provided)
- Any half-day internship sessions: Students may choose to have lunch or dinner on campus (one meal provided); optional activities (or participation in another school’s program or activity)
Friday July 10
- Morning internship; lunch on campus provided
- Afternoon activity of choice or weekend getaway
Saturday-Sunday July 11-12
- On own (limited transportation provided to and from campus; participation in other school programs as appropriate; travel as appropriate)
- Sunday evening: Re-orientation and Dublin-Belfast planning; dinner provided
Week 2
Monday July 13
- Bus to Dublin
- Lunch on own
- Afternoon newspaper visits
- Dinner and evening on own
- Overnight hotel in Dublin (provided)
Tuesday July 14
- Morning visit to RTE
- Late morning visit to Houses of the Oireachitas.
- Lunch, Dublin shopping and optional double-decker tour of the city
- Overnight in Dublin, on the road to Belfast (or Sligo, although is that efficient?)
Wednesday July 15
- Bus to Belfast
- Lunch on own
- Afternoon newspaper visits
- Dinner and evening on own
- Overnight hotel in Belfast (provided)
Thursday July 16
- Morning visit to BBC/Northern Ireland
- Late-morning double-decker bus tour of Belfast to better understand The Troubles
- Lunch and city shopping on own
- Visit to Stormont (optional)
- Bus to Sligo (stop for dinner or box dinner provided)
Friday July 17
- Final morning internship visits (for 2-week program)
- Lunch on campus (provided)
- Afternoon on own
- Departure dinner (provided for 2-week program; 4-week students may join in at own expense)
Saturday July 18 (2-week program)
- Morning departure to Shannon International Airport (provided)
- Saturday-Sunday July 18-19 (4-week program)
- On own (limited transportation provided to and from campus; participation in other school programs as appropriate; travel as appropriate)
- Sunday evening: Re-orientation and internship/Galway planning (or other site TBD); dinner provided
Week 3

Week 4
Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday July 27-30

- Any half-day internship sessions (Thursday is a half-day final internship session): Students may choose to have lunch or dinner on campus (one meal provided); optional activities (or participation in another school’s program or activity)
